Funding is due to come available later this summer to build new, upgrade or replace existing calf housing buildings to deliver health and welfare benefits for farms in England. There will be a minimum grant £15,000 (40% of £37,500) and the maximum grant is £500,000. The application process will be a three stage application process, beginning with an online checker, an ambient environment assessment and full application.

Additionally, specific funding has been allocated towards the cost of rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) panels (at 25% of eligible cost) which is the first DEFRA led grant funding been made available.

The infrastructure grant will be extended to adult cattle, pigs and poultry in future months.
